Summary Presentation and Report Format:

  1. Each student will give a summary presentation of his or her journal article in class on Thursday, Dec. 9.
  2. Suggested presentation outline:

I would suggest that you prepare not more than 5 slides.

  1. The required project report format is given below.
  2. The overall emphasis in the project presentation and report is on BREVITY! It is better to make a brief presentation and use your allocated time for questions and comments. Similarly, a brief report with emphasis addressing the above points will earn you the instructor's appreciation. (:-)

Project Report Format:

  1. Abstract of paper: problem solved, techniques used, general results, etc.
  2. Discussion of:

    1. Main technical contributions of paper and results.
    2. Strengths and weaknesses of paper.
    3. Comparison to other known methods.
    4. Your opinion of the paper.

3. Conclusions - of the technical merit of the paper.

4. References.

Your report will be graded for both content and english grammer, spelling, etc. If english is not your first language, I strongly encourage you to have an english-speaking friend (english first language) read it over. Your references need to be correctly sited and presented at the end of the report. The general tone of the report is supposed to give you a chance to communicate to me what you learned from the paper and from researching your topic. Please come see me or email me with any questions.
