Myth: The only use of anonymous email is to
send threats and hate mail.
Truth: Although some
people may use anonymous email for threats and hate
mail, there are many more reasons that may include:
- To contact a self-help
organization such as Alcoholics Anonymous, without
others suspecting they are an alcoholic
- To criticize a boss
or government without fear of condemnation
- To send information
"off the record" to a journalist
- To tip off police
without them knowing from whom the tip came
